Today was the day of shopping. It was great. I went to Camden Town first. There were supposed to be a couple of really good street markets there. I absolutely loved it! Camden Town and Covent Garden (from Thursday) were the two places that I really wanted to spend more time in than I got. Everything was so colorful and I found some great bargins! I even got to haggle :) When I spent all my money I had to leave.
I headed towards Harrod's, the famous department store, and was able to find a Bureau de Change. Armed with more money, I braved the crowds at Harrod's. I didn't spend any of it (well there anyway). It was the one place I really got lost. I can navigate myself all around London, but stick me in a department store with a whole bunch of people and I give up. It really was amazing.
So I walked up the street to the Science Museum and the V & A (Victoria & Albert - art) Museum. Both of which were nice. (See, I even stopped by 2 museums on my day of shopping!) When I came out, it had started to drizzle a little. The first time it's "rained" since the little sprinkling we got on my first day here. I was walking to Hyde Park when it started raining more heavily. Luckily, I was prepared - I had my umbrella (and my lovely new jacket from the Camden Town Street Market). I stopped in the Serpentine Gallery, a lovely little art gallery right inside the park. They had a photograph exhibit going on, so while the weather rained itself out, I enjoyed the pretty pictures.
It stopped raining pretty quickly, back to the drizzle, so I went back to walking through the park. I saw the Albert Memorial and the Kensington Palace. When I left the park, I just wondered around the area for a little while. The weather had bounced right back to hot and sunny while I stopped in at different shops.
When I stumbled onto a Tube station, I headed to Sloane Square in Chelsea, another big shopping area. One road out of the square had a lot of designer shops (I saw a Tiffany's). I went the opposite direction for the less expensive shops. I didn't end up buying anything, but it was a fun area to walk around in, and I did find a Godiva's :)
When some of the shops started to close, I walked all the way back the way I came, to the Tube Station to head back to my hostel. I had to pack because I was leaving early to go to Windsor and Dover the next day.
