Well, it's the final stop for me on the trip, back in Brisbane for a week.
When we arrived at our hostel we discovered we didn't have a room and would be kipping in the telly room for the first night. Bit of a s***e state of affairs at 7pm to not have a room ready like, but apparently there was a c*** up so we just had to get on with it. To be fair they made beds in it for us and we got a free drink at the bar, so it wasnt all bad! We headed straight out that night anyway, so where we were sleeping wasn't really going to be a problem!
The next day was the big one, playing the Mackems. It was a 9:45pm kick off our time, so us and the girls went our seperate ways with a plan to meet up later. We headed to the Pig & Whistle (aye, in Brisbane, there's two here!) to get a good spot. We all know the rest so we'll skip over it eh? We had a few farewell pints with Colin the jock the following night, while taking in Chelsea Liverpool and trying to numb the previous nights pain!
We spent the rest of the week mainly on the Southbank, either down by the man made beach next to the river (quality views of the city from there) or in the cinema at night. We filled up on films as it was cheap and easy! We also journied into town a few times for look about.
On Friday afternoon the lasses left for Surfers Paradise, so that was the final time seeing them off. It was then that it dawned on me I'd be on me todd within hours and the trip was coming to an end! Ouch! Still, that was temporarily forgotten about later that day, when I saw Rhianna shoe shopping in the town..along with 600 odd other people trying to cram through the door and up lamposts to get a glimpse!
The following morning, early, the lads left for New Zealand, leaving me with 2 days to fill before I started the journey home meself. Thankfully lots of walking about (can you tell I'm skint!?) and exploring managed to pass the time, as did the rather interesting new room mates I had..
Before I knew it I was in the departure lounge on Monday afternoon, waiting to start the long journey home, which I completed today and I'm now back home wondering where all the time went! This long haul stuff is piss easy by the way.. no hesitation in doing it again!
I've had a superb trip out here and there's places I'll be coming back to without a doubt.
So, that's it folks. Thanks for reading, if there's still anyone doing so, I hope you've enjoyed it.
Laters!
