Well well well - I have found my Italian OASIS! OMG! I love it in Venice!!! To get you up to date with my last day in Florence and my days in Venice - cause we head to Verona tomorrow - here I go...
We ended up going to the Uffizi Gallery and spent all day there - after nearly getting sacked as my job of navigator and Maria is the translator, we were late for our booked tickets and were very worried for a while when we thought we would have to join the MASSIVE queues at 9am in the morning - already about 400 deep... But luck was on our side... It was amazing - seeing all the famous Italian paintings that we see in books in the flesh - Adam and Eve, Venus, Botticelli and Raphaels work - was amazing! We needed to audio guide to help us out anyway.. Afterwards, Maria went to the see the real David in the Galleria dell Accademia and I went back to the hostel to chill - the heat was really getting to me and I didnt want to pay E14 to see a version of the David - I have seen 3 versions already!
The next day, we came to Venice - and on first sight it was amazing! We have been staying at a campsite on the mainland and catching the ferry in each morning - good nightlife with live bands at the campsite.. Anyway, when we got to Venice, we went for a walk to the railway station to orientate ourselves and to pick up tickets to the vaporetto for the 3 days... We then went on a tour of the Grand canal - using the no 1 ferry! AMAZING!!! It took 1 hour from one end to the other and Maria and I cannot believe how the city can function!!! The water laps at the entry to doors and there are over 170 bridges and 500 canals in the city alone..
In the past few days we have seen all the sights! Including the Rialto Bridge, St Marks Square and Basilica, Bridge of Sighs, the Fish Market, Murano, Burano and been on a gondola ride... Add to that mask and jewelry shopping and we have had an awesome time - prob the only negative thing in the HEAT and the MOZZIES! I have never seen them so big and my body is covered in them - so ending on that note - im gonna go back into the cabin and put my aeroguard on! They are biting through clothes and everything!!!
Chat soon people - we are heading to verona in the morning to see Romeo and Juliet sites and going to the Opera tomorrow in a 2000 year old ampitheatre to see Aida - better be good!!

Wail ive recently retuenrd from a month travelling round italy, it was incredible, venice is my favourite city in the world, its incredible, you absolutely must go to the peggy guggenheim museum, its near the accademia, its something most people dont do but its unmissable, the best thing to do in venice is just wander, you always end up somewhere interesting in rome i wouldnt bother using the metro, its more hassle than its worth, romes not very big and there are statues and fountains on every corner that you miss if you get the metro to and from places.
Arukusi Aha. This is one of the great debating poitns it IS racist and prejudiced, but it WASN'T racist or prejudiced when it was written. You can judge a book by modern standards if you wish, but it's a warped judgment, because the books were written in a different time. You could also look at Shakespeare's plays and criticize them for their anti-feminist point of view but that's the way men regarded women in those days, so it was an honest depiction of how things were at that times. That doesn't mean anti-feminism, racism or prejudice are right humanity has come a long way since those days but you really have to take things in context.
