Hey
so since my last update its been quite amusing. We had a place in mind where we wanted to go eat last night then went there, its along copacabana beach and it was full of old men and prostitutes so we had to find somewhere else. wandering along we saw the word steakhouse and thought yeah looks nice n busy! Went in sat down and they were like help yourselves, such an odd concept! there is a salad bar only then waiters come round with meats on a pole thing and carve them onto your plate. Literally one after another sticking meat on our plates if we said no they said yes special! we actually had no idea how much this was costing, but it was do good. really tasty steak and pork, chicken and sausages. Really good flavour, but the whole meal we were wondering if each meat selection added price, no idea. after much debate the bill came to R$163 which wasnt too bad, couldve been a lot worse but it proved to be an expensive night out afterall. We heard of a samba club so tried to find it at like 11pm walking along copa, walked about 25mins then got told it was another 20mins away. far too dodgy for 3 girls to walk back at like 3am alone. i had already seen remainings of a mugging on the floor. empty purse, glasses case, part of a phone. dodgy. went back at midnightish
We had a busy room, had 10 people in last night and i managed to sleep like a log, its brilliant.
Today i had a hearty breakfast at the hostel, loads more than id usually eat for brekkie, fruits, ham n cheese toasty and a cake!
We got ready and took the local bus to Sugarloaf Mountain, only cost R$2.50 one way. We went up to the first stage by cable car and admired the views Rio has to offer, tried the local beer, then got the next cable car up to Sugarloaf itself. It was cloudy that high up, but it occasionally cleared revealing the most stunning sea and islands and views of Rio. It was actually breathtaking. Its such a beautiful place. Rio is odd tho cus its like a circle with landmarks in the middle! Saw the airport we flew into and could see how short the runway is, and why i thought we were going to land in the sea at one point. Dad have a look on google earth and youll see what i mean!
Anyway got bus back and deciding where to go tonight out, Ipenema or Lapa i think are being thrown around the ideas table!
We have booked our hostel for Sat night at Iguazu falls, but our bus is 23 hours to get there. We are going to go tomorrow morning providing there is space, leaving at 11:15 so probs last update before falls.
having a good time and really well as well.
