Hello! This is a very delayed entry so may not remember everything of what happened! We arrived in a little village called Tordi Gar after a 4 hour journey in a very uncomfortable jeep ride!
We were given a necklace of flowers and a glass of 'thumsup' (Indias version of coke) and were gretted by the owners. The huge house that was the hotel was once owned by the family who when Britain colonised India ran the whole village and was passed through the centuries. People still come to the houseto ask for help and with questions. We felt very much part of the family as soon as we arrived and everyone was more than helpful with any thing we needed. We all went for lunch once we were shown our rooms and it was a delicious home cooked meal but it was a buffet so could come back for as much as we liked!
We then went for an orientation walk which was so much fun, the children would run up to you saying 'one photo' 'one photo'. I say it was fun, after a while it was like 'really, you want a photo as well?!' the village was beautiful, not like anywhere else we had been, so calm and peacful, the people didn't have as much as other places like Delhi, yet everyone was so happy and smiling all the time. The stray dogs were everywhere and there was a puppy covered in hundreds of flys so it was pretty much on its way out i think :( and there was another dog who was walking really strangely and we looked more closley and the top of his head had pretty much been ripped off and there was maggots covering it, was horrible to see, I still can't get the mentality of people who can just let animals be treated like that and not get help from anyone.
Once we got back to the hotel we had some time to chill, Mia and I had a little nap and then we headed to dinner on the rooftop. The table was set out with candles. it looked lovely, and we had our own personal bar. I didn't drink as for some reason I decided to climb a mountain at 5.45am! It was a lovely night and the three norweigians, Eirik, Synne and Rikke showed us a card game called 'Farmers Bridge'
So I woke up at 5.15am whilst Mia stayed in bed, got my hiking boots on (yes i do own some!) and went and met everyone else. Wow it was bloody hard, 300ft of rocks and sand, it was more a climb than a hike! However by the time I got to the top, not that far behind everyone else it was amazing, we saw the sunrise and the beautiful surroundings. I was so proud of myself for doing it and once we got back down i was pretty much dancing around and saying to Mia 'I fell so envigorated!' That lasted approx 2 hours when the tiredness hit me! But so bloody glad I did it, A huge achievement!
Mia will fill you in on our next stage!
Again sorry for the delay, photos have been a right pain to upload, will hopefully be able to once we are in Thailand :)
Lots of love
