Hi
Friday was our last day at central YHA. Because it was a really clear day we decided to go up the Sydney AMP Tower to the Observation Point. You got some amazing views over Sydney and it was handy to get our bearings. As part of the ticket we went on Oz treck - a virtual ride around Sydney where the seats moved - was very entertaining!
Moved to the Pink House in the afternoon which is in the Kings Cross area of Sydney, and yes its like Kings Cross in London! Not the nicest place to be but the hostel is ok, very quirky.
We are still really close to the CBD so have been filling our days up. On Saturday we spent the moring at the Australian Museum because the weather wasn't that great - shock horror. There were a couple of really good photo exhibitions. One by a guy called James Mollision who photographed portraits of orphaned apes and each picture had a caption which told their story - was very sad. The other good exhibition was the International Wildlife Photographer where they had photos from kids as young as 8.
In the evening we went to the first night of the Sydney Music Festival because it was free! Listened to some songs written by children in the afternoon, then had a dance lesson in Hyde Park and spent the rest of the night raving it up in Martin's Place! Again lots of people and a very pleasant atmosphere - similar to NYE. Sydney knows how to party.
Today we have done the walking tour of Sydney, walking around the harbours and through the botanical gardens. Have also been up to the Opera House and browsed the markets at the Rocks. Between us we have managed to pick up an Australia photo album, an Indian bag and a graffiti print!
Planning to watch the sunset over the harbour tonight and if the sunshine continues and afternoon on Bondi tomorrow.
Hope all is well.
Love Hayley and Rose xxx
