Jus and Phil's Travels
PHIL
Hey everyone! Website's starting to 'kick off' now! Excuse the pun!
Just got back from my mini adventure out to Germany with Ian (my coursemate from Uni) at the World Cup! My wonderful friend Ian managed to get us a pair of tickets for the England - Sweden game in Cologne (Koln) on the 20th of June, and I have to say it was one of the best experiences of my life!
We were out there for just under a week, staying in a campsite in a field opposite the runway of Dortmund airport! So in conjunction with the England foghorns until 4am, there wasnt much sleeping!
Germany's a great place and we would both recommend it for a short City break if your planning one. All the major cities are packed with welcoming squares, landmarks and waterfronts. Our favourites being Dortmund, Dusseldorf and Cologne.
There was a special atmosphere out there for the World Cup, and you couldn't look without seeing an England fan, no matter where you were! All in all a brilliantly organised festival for all people to enjoy.
The match was without a doubt the best I've ever been to! It had everything! Atmosphere, tension, great goals and a good contest.
After the game we had an epic drive back to St Malo (on the Brittany coast of France) through the night to get back in time for the ferry to Jersey, for Ian's little bro's 21st!..... We smelt!
Thanks for a great time Ian, see you at graduation!
Now I'm back in Crawley after Jus' bday where we went and saw Chicago up in London, which was really good - well worth a see if you get a chance!
Next stop Japan!
Phil
