Hey there!
I can't believe another week has already passed...time is going by so quickly!!! My week has been alright, I am still trying to get rid of the scabies which is becoming a very frustrating process. I went back to the doctor, and he believes that the scabies themselves are gone, but my body is still producing an allergic reaction. So, I got some prescription medicine which I hope will get rid of the rash and itchiness. And hopefully this will be the last time you will hear about it...because I'm sure it's not too interesting to hear about my rashes...
So, Sunday we had our Sunday night potluck again. This time everyone was able to make it which was really nice. I made the cocktail weinies again since I still had a pack leftover from last week. I think the highlight was probably dessert...Monica made Timtams wish peanut butter and nutella and sprinkles. They were delicious. We also did our Thursday night dinner again. This time we went to "The Keeper" which supposedly has "The Best Parma in Melbourne," and on Thursdays they have parma and a pot for 10 dollars (a pot is a thing of beer, just if anybody was worried I was getting into illegal drugs over here). I was a little surprised when I saw the parmasean...when I think of chicken parmasean, I always think of the pasta, but this was a chicken breast with a slice of ham, cheese, and little bit of red sauce. It was still really good...just not what I was expecting.
Today a couple of us went to the National Gallery of Victoria, which is about a 35 minute walk from our apartment. On the way we stopped at St. Pauls Cathedral which was impressive. There were some equally impressive exibits at the gallery. My favorite was probably the 19th Century Travel Photography...it was mostly of the Near East and southern Europe...it made me really want to go to Greece and Italy (so I guess that will be my next adventure...). There was also a cool exhibit on Japenese Golden Screens which was pretty interesting. The second best part was probably the cookie I got from the Cafe...it was a date, oat and yogurt cookie which was very tasty.
Tomorrow we plan on going to the Melbourne Aquarium which is one of the must sees in the city, so I am pretty excited about that. And then on Sunday I am going to a rugby game for my sports and eductation in Australia class. So I guess you will probably hear all about that in the next entry (and also as a little teaser...next weekend I am going to an Indigenous sporting game on Friday-Saturday, and then Philips Island on Sudnday...so the next journal entry will be uber exciting...I think I may be hyping it up a little, but we will see).
Classes are going well. I had my first real prac for animal physiology. I got to inject vasotocin and then a control solution into two cane toads and see the effects. The vasotocin is supposed to elicit a response that makes the toads uptake water and thats what are results showed, so that was good. My other classes are going smoothly as well...
Well...until next week
Leah
PS. I have been hearing some intriguing and amazing rumors that there is a new tyupe of reeses coming out in the US...an Elvis limited edition which has a creamy layer of banana in addition to the peanut butter. They don't sell reeses here, so I am very interested in getting a package of them...I will send a package of Timtams to whoever can get me some of these alluring treats. Scouts honor...
