Greetings from the Time Traveller's Wife here in New Zealand! We left Rarotonga on Monday 27th Feb, and after a 4 hour flight arrived in Aukland on Tuesday 28th, having crossed the international date line. There was a fair bit of turbulence on the way, and I did wonder if that was the moment we crossed the line, but Tony gave me one of his looks, so I guess it wasn't !
We picked up our Britz camper van, complete with lots of lizard logo stickers all over it , and after watching a compulsory DVD on how to survive in a camper van, we were off! Had a bit of trouble at the start as if you don't release the handbrake fully the hooter sounds! (That bit wan't in the DVD) Stopped and bought some free range eggs from a lady with a large cat - and lots of hens - and some cheeses from a place which had a sign saying "last cheese for miles" - better to be safe than sorry!
Headed up to the Northlands for a look round. Lots of roadworks on the way to remind us of England. Ended up in a beautiful spot on the east coast called Waipu Cove, magnificent unspoilt beaches, and surf. As they say here "awesome"!
