Hello!!! We arrived!!! Jet-lagged and confused!! We left on the 14th October with only a 12hour flight ahead of us then a connecting flight of 1hour and yet we arrived on the 16th October. Tired and missing a day of our lives!! Our supposed nice Quantas flight from Santiago turned out to be on LAN, anyone who knows about airlines will know that is NOT a good thing!!! So no sleep for Rich or Petra.... just a few minutes distant dreaming of those luxury coaches in south america mmmmm!!! Another strange thing is to hear people speaking english, even after a day here we still both turn our heads to look every time we hear an english speaking person!! You can imagine we have slightly sore necks by now but can help it, we came from 6weeks of pure spanish/ portuguese! A night of no sleep mixed with day being night also known as jet lag caused the mood in the Rich and Petra camp to vary depending on the time difference between each coffee!!! But today we lept into action, we decided to rent a car rather than be stuck on an expensive 'magic bus' around the south island for 20days. We did the tour of car rental companies and walked into (for obvious reasons!) 'Bargain Rentals'.... we got a car for 7pounds a day and even got to pick out our car from a line up of.... well, very 'bargain' cars!!! Let the adventure begin!!! Tomorrow we set off!
Tak konecne jsme dorazili!! Zdravime vsechny z Noveho Zelandu! Petra & Richard!

Karmilla May12 Congrats on the trip being almost here! I rebemmer all too well those final weeks then days then hours (!) before our one way flight to Buenos Aires was set to leave. Our to do list also kept growing in those final days. It became such a security blanket for me (everything under the sun was written on it the moment we thought of yet another thing we needed to do) that I actually brought it with us to Argentina! I eventually was able to put it away (and mailed it back to the States in our first package home as a memento of the pre-trip craziness). There were several things on the list that never got taken care of, but thankfully the stuff that mattered got done. (Though, at the time, I was convinced a disaster would strike if I couldn't get through every last single to do on that list!)All of that is to say: Enjoy these last few moments in the States before taking the plunge. If you can't get everything done, then try not to worry too much about it. At the end of the day, the most important thing is stepping on the plane together. Bon voyage! :)
