i didnt get a chance to write a lovely blog when i was in L.A as the internet there wasnt cheap and there was so much to explore. so here i am, condensing a week into a few paragraphs.
anyway, the week began with me having the second of my two easter sundays (due to time difference) and waiting in LAX for lewis. the airport itself is a pickle of a maze to work around as theyre doind it out. after an hour he arrived and we were on our way to orbi hostel, out new home for a week.
we were both pretty knackered once we got in so didnt do a lot.but the next day we had a wonder around and up to sunset bulavard and hollywood bulavard. and of course we did the whole chinese theatre/hand and foot prints/walk of fame etc. after those we did the hollywood wax museum and the guiness world records museum. the wax museum was pretty silly but it was fun guessing who they were actually supposed to be. all in all it was a pretty productive day before we crashed rather early again, but not before we saw an appauling comedy night, urgh.finally met our roomates who seemed to spend most of the time out and loved to come in at 4 in the morning and cause a rukus.
in the morning we thought we'd better up the touristy ante and do a tour of LA. it was only $60 and the driver was nice and we got to see a lot. did a few celebrities houses, infamous sights, places used in movies, venice beach etc. speaking of venice beach, there were so many hobos there that were mental. there was one who followed us for a while on his rollerblades playing his electric guitar serenading lewis, it was mightly odd. that night we went to the movies and sw observe and protect in this beautiful cinema in the grove, a small secluded area in fairfax that had a farmers market with a hotsauce shop.
disneyland was next on our tourist hit list. that was a really fun day out, alas i didnt see that many characters and didnt get a chance to get a photo with one but it was still and ace day. we went on the its a small world ride first and that damn song stuck with me all day. boo.the ride home was stupid and we had a stupid woman of a driver. it took 2 and a half hours for a trip that should have taken an hour less. so we werent up to doing anything tonight other than eating raben noodles.
we took a day out from the tour-y stuff and just had a wonder. i went to the art gallery there but it was only one room with a silly instalation in it, wasnt pleased. but we went in all the music shops for lewis to have a drool over the pedals before heading out for a lovely meal later on in the evening.
an early start as we headed to universal studios today, made even earlier by our room mates comming in and packing at 4 in the morn, morons. not only that, they thought it would be hilarious to lock the bathroom door with no one in it, meaning no one could get in and get a shower, rar. but universal was good, but smaller (for some reason) than i anticipated. as we were there pretty early, we managed to do stuff without the queues. i managed to get a picture with spongebob himself before going to see shrek 4d.we ended up doing all the rides and having quite a bit of time to spare. we of course covered the studio tour. we had this tour guide that had such an amazing voice, it was mad. but i really enjoyed that, especially the jaws bit.
=]
our last full day in la began with us heading back to hollywood bulavard to cover the hollywood museum and the kodak theatre. they were pretty neat. we got to see the costumes from the flintstones movie =p and much more. i also got to sample krispy kremes. the verdict is yum yum. at night we went back to the grove and went to the cheesecake factory for dins. it was such a great din and such a great night.we got a perfect table on the baclony overlooking the street. absolutly loved it.
the morn of our last actual day began early once again as lewis had to race to a record shop and buy a cd he'd seen but foolishly picked up the wrong one a day before. so i headed to the fairfax flea market and checked out the bargains.which i do love.after he'd got back we headed to pinks. the famous first hotdog stand and had yummy epic hotdogs. after that we went to the dollar sale at a thrift store and found some fetching jumpers with ducks and raindeers on. after that we were knackered, and it was only 2 in the afternoon.
it felt weird that my trip was finally at an end. i didnt really want it to be but i was ready to see people at home and stuff. id love to get out there again.
the world hasnt seen the last of me yet.
