Ron woke up at the crack of dawn, but then again he sleeps for hours at the time I'm wide awake. Today we decided to head out and into the city for lunch. Before we got on the road, I'd went next door to the post office to mail a letter. On our way into town, we encountered one of those random check points. There seems to be a rise on gang activity here. It's all over the news. I guess that kind of stuff is everywhere. The economy along with parents not taking responsiblity. The homeowners, couldn't stress enough, through their instructions, about ensuring that their house is locked up, at all times, when we are not here.
We also saw about 3 guys the Po-Po had pulled over. They looked suspicious and i think they were even handcuffed.
We drove into Georgetown and oh my goodness. There were hundreds of people. There were 2 Carnival ships in the water along with 2 other lines that I couldn't identify.
Driving ain't easy, especially on the left side of the road and with very few traffic signals and people just stepping out into the street. The town was busy as we drove around. We were hungry and decided to try and find somewhere to get some lunch. Ron read off suggested restaurants from the homeowners and we ended up at "The Lobster Pot."
The food here was the bomb. O, Ron had this sandwich I just know you'd like. It was called the "Cuban." It had pork tenderloin, ham, two kinds of cheese and this honey mustard sauce on a toasted roll. It was really tasty. He also had conch salad for his appetizer. It was in some type of salsa. I don't like salsa, but this stuff was really good. And they served it in a huge martini glass with lettuce and crackers.
I had the "special of the day." It was pan seared snapper, with red beans and rice, mixed steamed vegetables and coconut chutney. Over the snapper they'd drizzled this curry sauce. Oh my goodness, this was sooooo good. I even asked for more of the chutney.
The bread was warm and the view made everything mo better. It's a small place, but seemed mostly for the business lunch crowd. It was excellent. A whopping $62 for lunch though. The bathrooms were spotless.
We waddled on out of there and took a few pictures along the waterfront. Got in our car and this woman (she talked the entire time we ate lunch.) She was sickening. The woman with her, barely got a word in. All she was doing was bragging about what she had and her $300K home. Ron and I laughed, because in the parking lot, the other woman looked to be running to her car as if she was trying to get away.
I was awful too and regret doing this, but I didn't think before I reacted. The woman (the talking one), was behind me, while I was trying to pull out into the street. She honked her horn and I gave her the finger. Had she shut-up and got out of the restaurant in time, she wouldn't have been in a hurry. But then again, I'm in vacation mode. Kook!
We got back on the right track after a couple of wrong turns. Stopped by the liquor store to get Ron some beer and headed back in.
Our usual evening consisted of Scrabble and a movie. We'd watched "Rolling." Don't pick this one up, unless you like documentaries. It's a documentary about Esctasy use. Kinda wild.
The evening was pretty nice, it had cooled down just a bit, not too much from that 82 degrees. the waves crashing and the caribbean breeze, is just beautiful.
