Helloooo.
Well, we've arrived in Oz! Got here at about 5am, (massive temperature difference between here and Asia, like more than half!) and managed to get to the hostel in a taxi straight away. Then it all went a bit Pete Tong! Had booked an extra night so we could check in straight away, but they didn't bother doing that and we had to wait til 10am. Having had a mini session on the plane and getting nee kip, that wasn't ideal. Still, we passed the time with a quick (b****** cold) walk, a bacon roll, then managed to get in the room at 10 and had a few hours recharge.
Later on we get sorted and went for a wander round St. Kilda, the suburb we were staying in. Looked like a really good place with a couple of main streets with shops, bars etc. We eventually decided to get to grips with the local alcoholic customs and headed to a venue called The Easplanade or 'The Espy' as they call it. Excellent place, fantastically tacky and unshaven, scran downstairs and a pool room behind the main room upstairs and live bands every night.
This was also our first experience with 'pots' of beer instead of pints. It's basically a half. Most economical way to consume it was in shared jugs that you all get a couple out of. I'm sure we'll get used to it, but dealing in pints is much bloody easier. Sort it oot man!
We did a couple more places in later that night and it finished with me getting my marching orders from a club called 'Cushion' for falling to sleep. First time I have ever been chucked out of a club and had the bouncer say 'come back tomorrow night mate, it's much better!' I was shortly followed out the door by Saxton for crawling around under tables and then Norman, who wasn't ejected, he was just drunk.
The next day we had a tootle into the City on the tram, and had a climb up the Eureka tower (tallest building in Melbourne) to the skydeck. Excellent views from up there. Bought a hoodie at the bottom as it was still bloody cold outside! After a bit walkabout and the location of another Starbucks, we headed back to St. Kilda. We ended up in the Espy again that night, watching live bands an knocking the jugs back. Had a fantastic night and met some odd characters!
The next day we didn't do much, had another day in the City wandering about and sorted our bus to Adelaide, then a quiet night. We did have a wander down the promenade and spot a penguin that looked like Saxton though. Checked out the next morning and arsed about til bus time at half 8 that night.
Had a good time here, can't wait to come back!
Speak soon dudes!
