So here we are, in Christchurch, in our camper van for the last night. Tomorrow night we'll be in the Airport hotel, as we have to check in at about 5am for our flight to Sydney. We probably won't have wi-fi either, so this maybe the last update for a couple of days. This morning Tony went for another long training run, and completed about 15 miles, on a very hilly route and in about 25 degrees of heat. He came back very tired, and caked in dried on salt, but otherwise fine! We left Kaikoura around lunch time, via the coast road, so we could have a last look at the dolphins. We could sea them out at sea, jumping and splashing about in the water. I thought it smelt a bit funny where we were standing, (yes, the super-sensitive nose is still working well), when Tony pointed out the source of the smell. Just below us, was a very large seal, using the rock as a towel to dry off his fur! The more we looked, the more seals we could see - quite a few up on the rocks, mostly scratching themselves with their flippers, or nibbling their backs with their teeth, like dogs, and others swimming around close to the rocks, waving their flippers out of the water. Reluctantly we headed off inland and had a nice drive through the Waipara Valley vineyard area, passed through a couple of small towns and reached Christchurch in a couple of hours. We've just been out for a nice meal at a Thai restaurant accross the road from the campsite, so no cooking or washing up to do tonight, lovely.....
