Tuesday 2nd OCtober 2007- Noosa
Arrived in Noosa and was given a quick bus tour of the town. Arrived at Dolphins beach house and was really impressed the place had a nice feel. Checked in and met Linda who did remember Laura Tysvear from 3 years ago so gave her e-mails etc. Dolphins is a beautiful backpackers wih Buddha and Ganesh statues and pictures of Sita and various other Hindu Gods. Our room was an apartment and we had use of a kitchen, table, and lounge area with TV and video. Def could have worked here maybe one day. Saw a lady doing doing tarot cards so Kathy and I decided to have ours done. Quite interesting and tried to give nothing away but she wasn't contacting the dead and realised that she was interpreting the cards. Mine seemed pretty accurate and interesting however Kathys seemed completely spot on. The lady was called kate a 50 something year old who had sold her house was divorced and her children were doing A'levels so she had come to Oz. She wasn't sure how lng she was staying or where she was going. The first Welsh person I have met (from Denbigh.) The three of us then spent the evening together watching LA Confidential.
At around 12:00 a mother and son arrived and had been given the key for our room unfortunately they had booked an ensuite 2 bedroom apartment. The woman Lisa was Ok but her son was slightly embarassed.
Weds 3rd October 2007- Australian Zoo.
Set off on the bus to the Australian Zoo and watched a film about Steve Irwin and how he becamse a croc hunter I was more crying than laughing (are you heartless Gareth Upton). Arrived a t the Zoo which is now pretty full as it is nearing the end of school holidays. Had a cool day saw the croc show and again was pretty upset when his wife started talking about Steve. Not sure about his daughter and the 4 dancing guys she hangs around with. The girl seems like a minature Britney Spears (when on the Disney channel). Saw Crocs, birds, Kangaroos, Dingos, Foxes, Otters. I was impressed but after seeing Crocs at the crocodile farm in Broome and in Kakadu didn't really learn anything new. Same with the roos we had more contact in the Alice Springs centre. Did enjoy seeing the tigers and koalas though but refused to pay $15 for a photo. (apparantly you can hold them at wet and wild) Had an enjoyable day, bumped into John from Cairns who again was hungover. Went home pretty knackered and with aching feet. Spent the night watching telly and reading in the hostel. Hardcore.
Thursday 4th October 2007- Walk in Noosa National Park.
Had a bit of a lie in which was probably a mistake as I got to the beach at 11:00 so it was pretty hot. Walked down Sunshine beech which was just around the corner. Then up about 200 steps and started the Coastal walk around the National Park. Decided to do the 5.7km walk which led me through Alexandria Bay. This was an interesting walk! As I turned the corner to find a 60 year old man naked in the bushes lay on a blanket. Luckily before I screamed and shouted pervert I remembered that Alexandria Bay is a nudist Beach. I wa actually quite annoyed I hadn't brought my towel as I could have got rid of my annoying tan lines. Anyway on with the walk down the beach. Reached more steps and decided to do the Tanglewood walk (I think it was called that). Actually quite enjoyed my self as most of this walk was undercover so not as hot. Saw some Iguanas fighting in the forest so tried to get up close and take some photos. Then I realised that the two iguanas were having sex and remembered that iguanas can become aggressive when angered. I would have pretty angry if I had been that iguana so rushed back onto the path walking into spiders webs and having a mini fit that I might have deadly spiders in my bag, hair etc. Never leave the footpath is the lesson in that story especially when in a country tha thas 9/15 of the worlds most venomous snakes (well something like that) not to mention spiders that are the size of peoples heads. However can I point out I have travelled from Perth to Darwin gone into desert up to the rainforest at Cape Trib then down to Noosa and I have not seen one wild snake or one big scary spider. I feel somewhat cheated. Continued wlaking and bumped into the German boys who were on their way to Alexandria bay so I was rather thankful I didn't have my towel. These German boys we have bumped into in Airley, Harveyand now Noosa and every time we see them we say "we will txt you." It never happens! Got to the end of the walk and was rather dissappointed not to see any Koalas. Got into Noosa town walked down the high street admiring the beautiful clothes that the rich people in Noosa and the movie stars can afford. Or those people who own boats and lie on the deck wearing white outfits with beautiful brown sandals and matching jewellery and sun hat. I really want to be one of those people.
Arrived back at the hostel at about 3:00 I was goign to go to the beach but Kathy was at the hostel so we chatted and read OK. More guests arrived Helen from France and Sally and Glenn from Hitchen, Hertdordshire. Spent the night in again and had some booze as it was Troys birthday. Troy taught Kathy some chords on the guitar and we all watched Heroes. Hardcore!
