im currently in airlie beach after spending 3 nights on magnetic island and 1 in mission beach.
was a bit disappointed by mission beach, there wasnt a great deal to do there. i mean it was a pretty place and such but very remote. you could white water raft there and sky dive but i wussed out, considdering the skydive if i can afford though.=p.
Anyway mission beach was good for meeting people, thanks to the oz bus and big dorms, i have met some very neat people, and this was expanded when i met others in magnetic island, which is good as it refeshing to see a familiar face rather than new ones all the time. On the way down from cairns to misson beach, out driver took us into the rainforest where we saw massive spiders and creepy plants. he told us of a legend that has apparently took the lives of about 20 men aged 17-23 because they had jumped in to devils creek.
After that we drove to the croc farm to see the friendly crocs being fed jucy dead rats. when i got there i got to hold a baby croc, a snake and a big cockatoo, as well as that i got to feed a kangaroo and a wallaby. they were so cute and cuddley. i think the best think about it was that iwasnt expecting to do it, so i enjoyed it alot more.
we had a brilliant time. on magnetic island 8 of us rented out 2 barbie cars and explored as much of the island as we could.
first we went to a few look out points, and saw the island at different views which was beautiful. then we went to one of the beaches and chilled for a while whilst some went jet skiing. after that we went on the look out of wild koalas as apparently you could see them quite often, but alas alak, we had no such luck. i have yet to have a cuddle with one as well.
next stop was a natural waterfall that was hidden away from pretty much everyone. it was beatiuful and secluded, so we had a dip in there and relaxed for a while before finding some wild rock walllabies. it was the best day as we did so much, and i know that if i hadnt met these guys and got along with them so well i wouldnt have enjoyed it so much or have done it in the first place.
