Today has been an absolute scorcher in Phoenix! I'm already sunburnt... we had the most random day ever. Deciding to go out and explore, we got pretty much no where... until there was Jeff. Jeff. A complete random stranger who basically said he would take us where we'd like to go in his truck. Never talk to strangers let alone go somewhere with them. But meh, it paid off actually. Really nice guy. There was hardly any space so the lads jumped on the back of this open top truck, one of the maddest moments in all of our lives and us ladies had the roof over our head.
He took us to Papago Park. It's absolutely amazing. Cacti everywhere. Giant rock foms and I mean GIANT. I have some awesome photos. I am wanting to learn more about the environments that I visit so I will do some follow up research to understand such formations and plant life later. We did a heck of a lot of climbing. There were bikers having a barbecue and listening to RnB. Not rock music as stereotypical as that sounds. Now Jeff left us in this park and it was quite a way back to the Econolodge. I mean it was a straight long walk back down Van Buren Street. It was about 4 miles long in the really hot sun. I mean, ouch! We cooked quite easily. Good exercise though. Had no lunch so waiting for pizzas currently. It's taking forever and we have to go back to the airport soon. Hope we get them!
Off to Flagstaff tonight. That is going to be a long drive :( and apparently there is a foot and a half of snow. Quite a contrast. It will be interesting to find out about the climate in contrast to Phoenix at the moment.
Now I definately dont know when my next post is. Hope everyone is okay. Gap America is definately the way to go! Everyone is so lovely!!!! And friendly. hehe x
