well....we have had a day and a half!!! we went on the city walk, really interesting, and learnt some history of Delhi which was good and learnt some stories of the boys that used to live there (they did the tour) there was about 20 of us which did the walk as well. Then we treked all the way to the home we will be working in, approx 30 mins on the metro and walking (very tired Ellie!) we looked around the home and all the kids came running up to us shaking our hand, was lovely, very sad thinking for whatever reason they have no family they can talk to. we will be taking a class of 5 together which is good and we have to devise a basic taching programme which they may or may not follow!! we start tomorrow properly at 10.30. Exciting but a mission to get there!! On the way back we decided to be lazy and get a rickshaw back to the hotel...big mistake!! he rode about 25 mins then stopped at the end of this massive market and then told us to get off, we paid him 200rupees (about 2 pounds) and then started walking, suddenly realising that we didnt recognise anything, but thinking we werent very far away, we asked a man how far to get to our hotel (we had a card with the details on ) and he told us we were an hour and a half away from there. Brilliant. So we asked the man working in one of the shops if we could get another rickshaw and he hailed one and told him to go there. we got on and went down several very scary roads that were packed with people walking along the street and lots of other rickshaws and there were no other tourists in sight, and mainly all men...was very scary, we then soon realised once we got further that the rickshaw driver had no idea where he was going as he had to keep asking for directions, by now we had been in this rickshaw for about an hour and a half, our bums were numb and we had both had enough, finally we recognised something and eventually got back to the hotel!! all for 50 rupees, but what should have taken us half an hour if we werent being lazy took us 2 1/2 and a very stressed and slightly scared ellie and mia!! but we are fine, we used our heads and wits and our now safely back in our hotel, that will teach us to be lazy!!
That was yesterday so obviously Mia and I were not overly excited to go all the way to the children's home but we went, we met Frankessca (a german girl we met yesterday) at the metro and we began our half an hour trip to the home. When we arrived it was all very un organised but eventually we were given 2 children and left to our own devices, both children were around 7 or 8, at first Mia and I were abit unsure as to what to do but it soon became quite easy. We had a 3 hour lunch break which was ridiculous, I can't believe that these children have 3 hours in between! The afternoon was much better and we felt like we actually taught them something!! Looking forward to going back tomorrow. We also had lunch there as well, very nice, however curry is starting to become very boring now, could kill for a burger and chips!! And thats after only 4 days!!!
I love our hotel too, everyone is so accomodating, my SIM card doesn't work in my rubbish nokia so they have lent me a phone if it works and have just gone to the market to find a battery for it! A-MAZING!!
Mia is uploading the photos now so we can prove that we are actually here!!
Will write more soon
Lots of love

Laura This is a Great Blog, with the map, too. How scary to be dropped off somewhere you didn't know and miles away from your hotel. Do be careful.
