Yo yo yo!
So yesterday we visited the Red Fort. It was beautiful but there wasn't much to see. Ellie told me to write that because I wrote "it was boring" and she told me off.
First off we had a lovely lie in, to counteract all the early mornings we have had this week. So we dordled for a few hours, Ellie packed her stuff and was really unnerved that it was easy, I think she was expecting more of a struggle. Then the hotel owner's son (and our new friend Pulkit :)) took me, Rachel, Ellie and Franzi out for lunch which was nice :D Then Pulkit, Ellie, Rachel and I went to the Red Fort. Pulkit paid Rs 10 and we paid Rs 250 because we were 'foreigners' which we were NOT to pleased about. Not a fan of this segregation exploitation! So the fort is basically a few gardens with not specifically pretty plants, and a few buildings that are quite delapidated (I've just had an hours nap and its clearly done wonders from my brain - evidenced by the new big words I'm using!) with no real explanation with what they were. We took some cool pictures of us jumping off some steps though. One thing that IS very strange that we've mentioned before is that people take pictures of us! At the Red Fort the strangeness hit a new time high! I would say that to our knowledge, around 30 pictures were taken, but people mostly try to do it without telling us. This includes kids, women and men and the parents encourage their kids to come up to us to shake our hands, speak to us or ask for a photo. Pulkit said that its because some people have never seen foreigners, which I find really strange in the capital of India!! Anyway if you can't beat em join em so we started being attention seeking, and we took photos of them when they took some of us, and most of them looked well awkard! We had to make our own fun in the red fort....also the area surrounding the red fort is really rough and busy.
We got home very late that day, got some street food; I O.D'd on carbs with fried bread stuffed with potato, with potato wedges. Rachel and Ellie had chocolate banana pancakes for dinner, so we're all on a strict diet as you can see. Then we went back to the hotel and had a nice girly evening; watched a film and chatted :) it was lovely.
Today Ellie and I are continuing our site seeing mission. We went to Purana Qila to go on the boats but it wasn't very busy so we didn't stay long, but got a nice picture of the fort there built in the mid 1500's which was cool as it's the oldest fort in Delhi. We moved on to Humayan's Tomb which was really interesting. It is the tomb of the second Moghul Emperor and is beautiful. Its set in a massive garden and around 160 royals in total are buried there. We took loads of pictures :D
I have a spot of Delhi Belly which is a walk in the park compared to Gastroenteritis so no biggy.
Tomorrow we go to Lodi Gardens and Kharn Market and take our bags to the new hotel for the next adventure installment :) yey!!!!
Ellie's turn now! Speak soon! xxxxxx
